About BwaStories
BwaStories is a free Korean reading practice tool for language learners at the beginner-to-intermediate level. The name comes from 봐 (bwa), the casual form of "look" or "read" in Korean.
What it does
The site offers a growing library of Korean short stories, each with:
- Full English translations displayed sentence by sentence
- Word-by-word tooltips showing base forms and definitions
- Vocabulary coverage calculation — so you can find stories where you already know 70–90% of the words, the ideal zone for learning
Vocabulary tracking
BwaStories connects with Anki, the popular spaced-repetition flashcard app. By importing your Anki deck, the reader can highlight which words you already know and filter stories by how much of their vocabulary you've studied.
Who it's for
BwaStories is aimed at Korean learners who have some foundational vocabulary and are ready to start reading real sentences. If you're studying with Anki, this is a natural companion tool to turn your flashcard progress into meaningful reading practice.
Content
Stories range from everyday slice-of-life topics to light fantasy, covering a range of vocabulary and grammar patterns. New stories are added regularly.
